I PLAN TO COME OUT ON TOP

"I’m doing great right now all things considered. This pandemic has taken a lot of joy out of a lot of things but I plan to come out on top and thrive through this school. I haven’t let this pandemic take out the motivation in me to learn and succeed in life. I’m excited to go to school at UEI and hopefully start a career and a life in the near future."

BREAKING THE CYCLE

"I always find ways to de-stress and maintain peace. Although things will get a little hectic, hard work and determination go a long way and work hand in hand. Hard work pays off even though it might not show right away, but when you see it the effects are everlasting. It has given me the opportunity and confidence to better myself in life, as well as, set an example for my family and loved ones. With all the support the staff here has shown me I’m going to finally break the cycle in my family and be self-sustaining.”

MY ULTIMATE GOAL

This past year I made some progress toward my future goals. In the past few years, I have been stuck in a situation that was unchanging and I couldn't really do anything about it.  But this year, things finally started falling into place.  I began the MA class, and I will be moving out of in-law's home soon!  The MA class is setting me on the path to reaching my ultimate goal of financial stability. I want to immerse myself in the medical field and learn how to help people to the best of my ability.

BREAKING THE CYCLE

"By the time my classes had started, the Covid-19 pandemic had shut down most of the businesses and institutions. Due to this, I have not actually had the chance to attend a class on the actual campus. So I can't say that I miss anything from the campus but I certainly am anxious to finally be able to get into my physical class and further my education!

Once I obtain my certificate of completion upon graduation I plan to find an auto shop to work at least for the next two years. During that time, I plan on furthering my automotive education by learning about diesel power plants and additional trades such as welding, HVAC, and hydraulics. Depending on my success with my goals and the industry as a whole, I may stop my progression there or I might attempt to open my own shop or business later in my life."

MY HERO

The hero in my life is my father. Since a young age he’s struggled with drugs and alcohol, and has been in and out of the jail system. 17 years ago he decided to turn away from those things and begin living his life sober. My father is now giving back to people who currently struggle with those addictions, he goes every week to juvenile halls in hopes to turn these young adults towards the right direction to be successful in life and sharing what he has gone through. He also goes to the homeless camps and gives them food, clothing, and offers to take them to places of shelter. He goes into the projects in Los Angeles and takes the children clothes, food, and bicycles to give them hope of a future. My father puts other people’s needs in front of his and for that reason he is my hero.

DRIVEN TO BE THE BEST

My goal right now is to find a position where I can grow and take on new challenges. Ultimately, I’d like to assume more responsibilities and get involved in the medical billing field. I want to work for an organization where I can build a career. I’m driven to be the best at what I do, take on interesting projects, and work with people I can really learn from.
